This is something I was led to believe by the ICC but is not true. You can change the reservation without touching specific sectors .The schedule change dept done this for us in March this year for a trip in April. Our TG/SQ res changed to TG/LH - date/route/airline change - keeping the first sector only ( KTM-BKK ). And that was for 4 pax on C awards ( 2 reservations ).
Because TG were chopping and changing airports at BKK, the change to our reservations was done gratis. I dont see why this cant be done any other time though for the £20 change fee. The PNR stayed the same although new ticket numbers were generated.
I wouldn't hesitate in trying this avenue. I've had problems booking revenue tickets through the ICC and now find dealing with the MAN ticket desk to be far more quicker and efficient ( and a lot less hassle ).
