thanks, Kathy.
The Ferry Bldg at Market and Embarcadero is a San Francisco landmark, worth visiting whether you are taking the ferry or not. It has been re-habbed and is now full of some special cafes, restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, a serious tea house, a cheesemaker, culinary specialty shops (including Sur La Table), all in a slightly gritty wharfside location. There is a fabulous, crowded Farmers' Market which happens to operate on Saturday mornings right there on the wharf. For anyone taking the ferry at midday to our sub-DO, spending an hour or two at the Ferry Bldg having breakfast or coffee and wandering the shops and market would be fun. Best of all it is easily accesible from the downtown hotels where most people are staying.
