Will you have a laptop with you? What we did was get the internet deal a day or 2 before we arrived. These places have free internet access and a free light breakfast. You could stay for about $60-$70 dollars. Otherwise Hotels will cost you $100-$130 depending on chain. These motels will be close to your target areas. In San Fran you might need to stay a little more upmarket. We were in San Fran late in October and the weather was great (they have an Indian Summer)
Thanks Lonely Flyer. We'll have a laptop with us and were planning on doing exactly what you've described for some of the accommodation (ie: booking a few days before).

Good to hear the weather will be good. I was in SF last in Sept/Oct and seem to remember the weather being good, although that was 12 years ago!

When you say $60-$70, is that AUD or USD? (It may not really matter in a few months anyway ).

Cheers,
