Saturday afternoon redwood deck BBQ sub-DO
thanks for the kind (as usual) words, Lucky.
This sub-DO invitation to my house is really as a thanks to our three fearless organizers, without whom none of us would be meeting at all. They have been working so incredibly hard for this. I just thought that a BBQ on a genuine California redwood deck was the kind of thing a visitor to California - no matter how many SPG points they might have - just can't buy. It's the kind of local color I always wish to experience when I travel myself. The fact that it will be all FTers is what makes it really special.
I do have an ulterior motive for hosting this event. As anyone who has ever organized anything knows, the earlier the attendees sign up, the easier it is for the organizers to plan. So please consider this invitation to my house an.... early bird special? On behalf of Lucky and the other organizers I urge you to register for the DO now.
I can't guarantee the weather, but at that time of year we have been known to swim in our lagoon and definitely use our paddleboat. It's usually 10 degrees warmer here than in San Francisco proper. Bring bathing suits and sunscreen if you like. There will be something yummy to eat, something icy to drink and maybe.... warm nuts.
I also encourage other locals to offer hospitality in any way they can. A carful of people to the beach, a museum-hop of the deYoung/Asian/MOMA, a walking tour of your own neighborhood in SF. There are lots of simple ways we can welcome our friends or future friends to the City in the way that only a local resident possibly can.
