Historical QF route: Did they ever stop in Africa?

On the England run during the early days, did Qantas ever stop in any African cities on its way to London? I ask because I noticed on the website routing that looked like Qantas once stopped in Khartoum, Sudan. Is this correct or is it just another example of a geographically challenged advertising artist.

Finally, the old route from Darwin to Singapore once stopped in West Timor and Bima. I wonder if anyone has any links to stories or websites in regards to the operations in these places.

Thanks,
Dave
