I have been told by United that there is a difference between using the PC based reservation program and their web page to reserve and purchase a ticket. For instance, with United Connection (via the PC) you only receive 25o bonus miles per segment while with the United on the Web you get 500. Secondly, the progressive bonus award offered via the web does not cover reservations made with the PC based program. Pretty strange.
