I have a C tik LAX-SYD on 12/20, departs at 9:02P (UA827). I'm looking to buy a separate tik IAD-LAX to catch the flight. All the IAD-LAX metal looks to be 319/20's except for UA947, a 777 that arrives at 8:05P.

Can I make this connection? Do I have to negotiate security, etc at LAX or can I transit directly to UA827. I assume I can link the PNRs with UA. Will this avoid any hiccups in LAX?

Thanks for any tips on how to manage this. I really don't want to start a long haul to AKL on a 319 transcon flight.
