Last week I had a business meeting in Barstow, CA on Wednesday afternoon, and one in SAT on Thursday morning. My only option to get to SAT was leaving ONT at 9pm on Weds, change in LAS, and arrive in SAT at 5am. I kept the hotel room, checked in at 5:20 am, slept for 2 hours, showered and was out by 8am.
short story: just under 3 hours at the Times Square Renaissance.
long story: I was to fly ATL-LGA one sunday night at 7:45pm. due to weather, flight was delayed almost 3 hours. halfway there, diverted to PHL because JFK, LGA, EWR were all shut down. after a hairy landing (pretty bad in PHL as well), we spent a couple hours on the ground before the new flight crew showed up (current crew was illegal by midnight). finally arrived at LGA 3am. jetway broke down, so towed to another gate. in a cab by 3:45am, which blew TWO tires hitting a pothole just off the triboro bridge. still raining. luckily (?), got another cab and arrived at hotel and checked in at 4:45, slept from 5:30 to 6:45, showered and left for an 8am meeting. good times. i wasn't charged for the night (would've been on the client anyway) and i wasn't in the mood to argue about getting another 5000 Marriott Rewards points.
