I'm not much of a fan of the backwards-facing seats on certain BA and LH flights, although I do like the flatbed concept, and I would take a backward facing flatbed over a forward facing partial recline. True, CO's BF seats are better than your average non-flat C seats, but I am worried that CO stays still.
I'm not sure NW is ahead of CO, but UA will be.
UA may have fewer seats than CO, but UA upgrades will still be far easier than CO upgrade because the total inventory of C and F is higher than CO's inventory of BF seats. And CO does not have SWUs (in part because of the two-class limitation), so is certainly deficient for international upgrades vs AA and UA.
