I happen to have booked one of these cheapo LH intra-German fares -- about $50 each way, including all the fees, and cheaper than the low cost carriers.

What kind of service do you now get on these flights? I remember being shocked a couple years ago to actually receive food in coach on a one hour flight out of Frankfurt.
