The end of Cairo and Riyadh

---TWA WILL END CAIRO AND RIYADH SERVICE---
Due to a lack of profitability on the flight, TWA Airlines LLC will end service from New York to Cairo and Riyadh effective Sept. 30. The airline today advised the respective governments as well as TWA employees in the two cities. Customers who have booked travel on these flights will be contacted in the next few days and will be provided alternative travel arrangements at no additional charge. In recent weeks, American has also taken a number of belt-tightening actions to counteract the effects of a weak economy and two quarters of financial losses. These actions include the early retirement of 19 TWA aircraft and 17 AA aircraft, the reduction of nearly $1 billion in capital spending and the cancellation of other unprofitable international routes.
