So I've got a trip to the Maldives coming up and would like to ask the experts a few questions. We're (presumably) getting kicked out of our resort at noon, but SQ's flight back out is only at midnight, leaving us with half a day to kill. Plan A is thus to dump/check-in our bags at the airport, take the ferry across and poke around Male during daylight hours, eat a decent dinner, then head back in the evening.

1) What time does SQ's check-in open? If the answer is "late", is there a place to stow a suitcase full of diving gear at the airport?

2) We're in Y, but I gather *G gets me into the Finifenmaa lounge. Can I bring a guest too? (*S, on the same flight.)

3) I gather Male is not the hippest and most happening metropolis in Asia, but any recommendations for things to do or places to eat?
