At 160,000 miles for a flight NRT is pretty expensive and the MFU option at £1,100 + 40,000 is still pretty steep (although you obviously get a chunk of these back) Very good case for an Amex 2-4-1

ex-eu is a decent option at a touch under £1,300 ex-lin/fco although a UK stopover adds 200 euros and although I class availability is generally good it's usually zero on the days I want!! Certainly worth the effort if you need the TPs or are low on miles....

Shame the fare sale is over - the £800 WT+ fares were a great way of getting to a distant destination in decent comfort at a very reasonable fare.
