1. Yes, as 1K you can change date/routing without being charge (as long as the ticket is actually coming from an 1K account). You don't have to change it on the last day.
2. Yes, you can change any part of the trip. For non-1K member, change of routing will cost you, but date changes are okay if the first segment has not been flown. Like previous poster mention, you can only change after first segment if the entire trip is UA.
