When booking a reservation, the full number of my stored credit card appears. When editing my credit card that is on file in my profile, the full number of my stored credit card appears. My stored credit card number should always be masked to show no more than the last 4 digits.
I don't remember if the old site masked the Answer to the Password Reminder Question, but the new site doesn't when I edit that area of my profile.
When I went through the steps to remove my stored credit card number, there is not an obvious option to offer this task. So I blanked out all of the fields for my credit card info and told it to save my changes. That seemed to work, I guess, because then my profile showed another one of my credit card numbers. Even though I apparently had two credit cards on file, the "My Profile" area is only able to show one at a time. So I then went in to edit my credit card info again in order to blank out my other card's data. When I saved my changes after that, it took several minutes to load the next page. However, it does now say, "You currently have no credit card information on file." And it will probably stay that way for a while since my trust in the site is quite low.
Performance speed of the new site is horrible. The site sometimes locks up the browser for several minutes.
I'm on IE 6.0sp2 on Windows XPsp2. My browser is set to "Check for newer versions of stored pages:" "Every visit to the page."
Some minor issues:
When C&P rates are available, they display in something like 6,000 Starpoints +
$45.0. The dollar only shows one decimal position rather than the usual two.
When searching for a hotel, there's a "Close" box in the top right. It looked to me as if it might close the little advertisement in that area. When I clicked it, it closed the whole search box. I didn't think that it was obvious about how to open that box again. (I learned that I needed to click "Hotel" in the upper left to tell it to open the Hotel Search area again.)
About one those ads: "Platinum access is more than late check-in. More>"
Really? I never even knew that late check-
in was a Plat benefit! ^
Ditto
fireworksboy's problem of the SET code being set to "0" by default.
Ditto my disappointment (that's a kind word) about the 14 day cancellation policy for awards. This change is probably not obvious to the everyday user. Has anyone called SPG to inquire if that's a new rule or if it's a website glitch? If this is intentional, it will have a BIG negative impact on my opinion of the SPG program.
I LIKE the ability to show All results in one page rather than being forced to have pagination on all results. I wish that I could set this as my preferred choice.
I think that the new message that displays next to non-participating properties is hard to miss on the search results page. I'm not sure that it's sufficiently placed in other areas, though, and not every booking takes the same route through the search page. I didn't book to the VERY end, but I didn't see a special acknowledgment that I would have to click for the Le Parker Meridien NY. Wasn't this going to be added? Or does it only come up at the very last step to confirm the reservation?
ac/elite, I have not experienced any problem with scrollbars across the bottom when my browser is expanded for the full width of my screen. My screen resolution is 1024x768. I do find that the height of the screen seems to assume that I don't have any extra toolbars at the top of my browser window. I use the Google Toolbar and the IE Links toolbar in addition to the standard default toolbars in IE 6.x.
There are a number of problems that need to be addressed, but the number one problem that I have is that it is super slow. If that can't be addressed soon, put the old site back online until it can be fixed.
In the meantime, reservations can be booked online with the old style site through the individual brands' sites:
www.sheraton.com
www.westin.com
www.lemeridien.com
www.fourpoints.com
etc.
