There are so many things I don't like about this story.

First - from AOT - "Airport officials say they have the whole incident on a videotape and have launched an investigation with a view to claiming compensation from the national carrier."

HOW VERY DARE THEY!?!?!? Had they not rushed the airport into existence in the first place (yes, they could have said "no" to Thaksin's urges), the runways would probably have been laid properly to begin with. It's like Hitler accusing Milosevic of killing a lot of people.

Second, having watched more than enough episodes of "Air Crash Investigations", it hardly seems the end of the world to skid a bit on a (poorly laid) runway. I think a swift reprimand to the pilot would be more than enough.

Third - when on earth does any Thai organisation take safety seriously? The way the skytrain skids to a stop in the rain; the way the subway has runaway trains that don't stop; police switching traffic lights to red to increase their monthly income from bribes? Come on... you're not Singapore - stop pretending to care whether this pilot reported a minor accident or not.

End of "up my own arse" comments. ^
