I picked the Kobe Crowne Plaza close to ShinKobe because of five reasons:
- I'm a Platinum PC holder, so I'm earning points on the stay (and I hope for an upgrade to come
)
- I read great review of this property on both AsiaRooms and Tripadvisor
- I'm planning on doing many day trips and looking at train timetables it seems to have good connections with almost any place I want to visit (Kyoto, Hiroshima, Himeji) using my JR Pass
- I found a good breakfast included rate
- It is just one metro stop to Sannomiya, which I understand is the beating heart of Kobe
Do you think these reasons given, I should change my hotel?
I've never been in Kobe before and I thought it was a good choice

Your hotel is quite convenient for the trains/access you seek. You can easily walk from the hotel to the "beating heart of Kobe" but you might take the subway back (unless you are fit). Kobe is very charming, lots of good cake shops, cafes, and good shopping. It is much nicer than Osaka (which is reachable in 10 minutes or so).
