Hertz is trying not to get business from me. Tuesday night, I get a message from UA that my next morning's ORD-EWR flight was cancelled. I was able to get rebooked on a flight arriving into LGA about the same time, so I just had to drive across to NJ to attend my meeting in the Parsippany area. I still wanted to return via EWR so I didn't have to make the cross-town trip again (this time in evening rush-hour).
No love from Hertz though. Put in a pickup at LGA and return at EWR, and they show zero availability across the board. Switch the return to LGA, and voila, all classes are available to rent. Once I have the car, I can change to whatever I want, because *I have the car*.
I'll gladly pay the upcharge associated with my corporate CDP rate (pay for miles used), but it ticks me off that I have to resort to faking Hertz out for the privilege of renting a car from them to drive around a big metro area where airline reroutes are a daily occurrence.
