To prevent potential injuries and deaths of pets, Trans World Airlines has announced it will not accept pets as checked baggage effective immediately and continuing through Sept. 5.

TWA flights will continue to carry small pets in the cabin in approved pet carriers. TWA will also continue to accept pets in appropriate travel containers for shipment as cargo, provided that temperatures are not forecast to exceed 85 degrees during the time of shipment.

Passengers who have made reservations for travel with pets during the summer may call 800-221-2000 to either rebook or have their tickets refunded without penalty
