I can only agree that it is a horrible bit of media and misquotes what was said.

On the other hand, I can confirm that Spirit will be serving FPO from LGA and FLL. Initially FLL with 2-3x daily. Fares will start at $8. Average fares are expected to range from $19 to $40 each way. Maximum fares will be $268 each way.

Service will be on A319 aircraft.

Apparently the GBTB was not willing to subsidize any longer with the arrival of NK. They did not feel they were getting value for the $$$ with the subsidies.
