That started me thinking. I would also consider Shin-Kobe to be a transit point rather than a destination... Shin-Osaka too for that matter. And Shin-Yokohama.
I think the expression "I was kicked in the Shins" derives from one FTers unfortunate experiences in these boondock neighbourhoods near the trunk line railway stations.
