Oh When, the irony is that if your rental were about four hours longer, it sounds like it would price as a weekly. The four-day rental is about the worst one from the renter's POV - it's a high-priced rental and the best promo codes rarely apply to it.

But if it were a full 5-day rental, it would price as a weekly. Promo codes tend to work okay on weeklies, although the 2x MR one isn't particularly exciting.

I know what you're probably thinking, but if you return a car early they will price it as four daily rates. That usually doesn't cost you money (because a weekly is usually your corporate rate times 4.5 or 5), but it will invalidate any bonus points that were based on a weekly rental.

My general opinion, as a Hertz renter, is that for a midweek rental I'm best off either taking Southwest credits (assuming I can get 2 full credits per rental) or Hertz points (in the absence of a good 2-credit promo).

For rock-bottom cheap weekend rentals, I either select Southwest credits (if I can get 1 or 1.5 credits) or Marriott points.
