Flaky AVOD systems on B777's - my NRT experience

Just stepped off of DL55 in Tokyo (Jul 16) and I must say the new AVOD entertainment systems were less than spectacular. A step up and more offerings than before? Sure.. nice.

However, during the flight, numerous selections were unavailable. When chosen, only a black screen showed up. Movies inexplicably froze up. The cabin crew had to reboot the system several times, each time having some sort of adverse affect. During one reboot, all the seats controls in BE went dead until the system came up.

During another reboot, the AVOD came to life again, only to find that the Empower/power ports now were non functioning, and again the selection of entertainment was malfunctioning, or just plain not available "on demand". I also noticed that the icons for several TV shows actually linked (played) completely different content.

Has anyone else experienced this mayhem with the new systems? Is it a case of Delta trying to 'mesh' in a system the 777 wasn't designed for, or a larger fault with the equipment/AVOD manufacturer?

Considering some people are paying "J" fares for the BE cabin - especially to work - having the power go out wouldn't seem to score any points..!
