Well I kind of figured that.

Having had very mixed results requesting similarly basic things from other airlines (in my experience, some airlines simply will not provide seat assignments - at all - for award tickets obtained through an alliance partner), I figured it was worth asking here for more tips. Since I'll be on their planes for over 24 hours, I want to do what I can to get a seat that won't contribute greatly to the misery.

For example, on the Singapore Air website, there are local phone numbers (Seattle, San Francisco, etc.) for reservations, and on the seatguru.com page for Singapore Air, there's a single 800 number (centralized reservations, no doubt). Anybody know if the agents at one or the other is more or less likely to be cooperative? Just looking for suggestions to make this go as smoothly as possible.

Thanks.
