Hopelessly lame!!!! Here is the email I sent ORBITZ earlier today about the change I wanted to make, and their reply. (Where are these idiots located, and who works in their call centres?)

I have now contacted your phone agents twice in regards to this matter to little avail.

I hold a business class ticket between SFO-SYD-AKL-SYD-SFO, Orbitz ref XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Several weeks ago, I was advised of a sked change in the times of my United flight from SYD-SFO by one hour. This change meant that I can now take a later flight between AKL-SYD and still have a legal connection of 1h45m at SYD.

Furthermore, my original flight from AKL-SYD on NZ was changed from NZ103 to NZ703, and the aircraft from a B763 to an A320. There was no change in the departure or arrival times (9a arriving 10:30a). This flight operates with a modified business class cabin and more restrictive seating from the original aircraft selected. (Also, the
assigned seat 4F on my Orbitz confirmation is actually the first row of economy, not in business at all.)

I have been attempting to change from this flight to NZ119 on the same day (January 1st), a B763 that departs AKL at 1p and arrives at 2:30p, giving me enough time to connect to my UA870 at 4:15p.

As this is a business class ticket, and two sked changes resulting from the downgrading of aircraft and change of flight times, means there should be no charge for making this change, nor even a need to reissue the ticket.

I hope by writing, something can be done this time.

I give up! Since the return NZ flight I want is a 763 I am sure there will still be lots of open C seats when I get to AKL and I can have them make the change at the airport!
