Might be flying 4:00pm TPE-HKG flight soon in either Y or J. J is not that much more than Y but since it's a pretty short flight, is it worth paying for it?

A side question, if I am arriving on a SQ flight from HKG at 1:55pm, do you think I am ok in terms of getting on the TG flight? Also, do I have to clear customs or is there a transfer desk where I could get my TG boarding pass? Do I need any Taiwan money for airport taxes?
