Don't forget the seat-on-the-Upper-Deck-cabinet threads.

I actually kind of enjoy these posts from time to time, and in fact find that there is often some variation on the theme of the posts. ... I would hate to see these posts sent to the "consolidation" ghetto. In fact, the number of people who love to chime in speaks to the popularity of these threads, which usually remain civil. So I would hate to see these topics "banned."
I quite agree. Save for those threads started by trolls (and we can generally distinguish the trolls from the legit posters), these threads often have a measure of variation that makes them interesting, and the number of responses they generate proves their popularity. Not everyone participates all the time, and the threads are certainly not all the same, even if the topics fit within the broad categories. Far more often than not (although the thread linked above is an exception), the thread title indicates that "this is gonna be another one of those threads." If you don't want to participate, stop intruding in the thread bemoaning what others obviously like to discuss--the bellyaching is, fairly, OT. If you don't like what's on, change the channel!

At 10000 FT I would have told him where to go (politely of course)
On the merits, simon's got it 100% right. ^ ^
