You will earn AE points as the operating carrier is AC. You should not have to send in your tickets if you can get the AE number put onto your itin at the airport. Keep your boarding passes just the same incase soemthing goes wrong.

Example: When flying and AC Tango class ticket on UA metal, you will earn 100% status miles from UA. I have done this a few times.
