Medium size US based data company with a Scotland born and reared Lady Boss. Our most recent travel policy which has been running for 2 years requires that we book the cheapest flights available without concern for carrier. The exception is if the person doing the flying can find a ticket on a preferred carrier with is within $50 of the cheap ticket.

If we can find it, we can fly it! How many work and personal time hours are spent hunting for tickets is an unknown factor.

Our hotel allowances are based on charts that Lady Boss makes up herself. Of late they are for 3* hotels and worse.
The exception is when a meeting is held at a particular hotel or we absolutely need an airport hotel to make extremely early departures.

Our meal allowances are meager and getting more so as the US dollar weakens. I try to book hotels with breakfast included to make ends meet. We have dropped from taxis to and from airports to shared ride vans unless we can buddy up on taxis.

Laundry and dry cleaning allowance is $50 per 7 days and only for trips longer than 7 days. This doesn't affect me, but does get to the men who have shirts and suits that need doing. I do my own laundry in the bathroom sink.

Our meals in transit are limited to $20 which includes food purchased for non-food flights.

Use of personal ff miles and status to get upgrades is allowed but not reimbursed. I gather up as many ff miles as I can from non-flying sources to make my flights more enjoyable. I appreciate FT for helping me to do so.

I miss flying on top rank carriers! I work hard to book them when I can. I now treasure flights on BA which I used to take without concern. I know the differences!
