To be fair, the use of plasticware to/from the UK is dictated by the British government. However, I don't why they are using plasticware to/from DUB (I've never flown that route), as silverware (okay, stainless steel) is used on all other European routes I've flown in the past several years -- AMS, FRA, MXP and probably others I've now forgotten about.
