Re IFE: JAL has video on demand, AA does not. (But I admit the selection on both is terrible. I just use my video iPod for IFE now.)

Re lounges: JAL is opening new lounges at NRT to much fanfare on July 19th. The descriptions sound pretty spectacular. Hot food, showers, massages, etc. I will get to try them out on the 20th!

I agree that overall, JAL is far, FAR better than AA in trans-pac J. In my experience the biggest differences are the seats and the attitudes of the FAs. On AA the FAs were indifferent and often cold. One FA went around the J cabin admonishing passengers to close the overhead bins before departure. (Funny, JAL FAs have no problem closing the bins themselves and would never commit the shocking faux-pas of asking a customer to close them.) AA FAs are also very inflexible. When they came around with snack service, I asked to receive my snack 30 minutes later (since I was working on my laptop). They refused, saying that they would be on break 30 minutes later (ALL of them???) They make you feel bad if you ask for anything even slightly out of the ordinary... as if passengers exist for the convenience of FAs. NOT how J service should be. On JAL they always answer enthusiastically and with a smile. Makes you feel good to be flying them.
