Glad I've seen this thread, having just renewed my passport. Am off to the US in a few weeks, but will actually be arriving by train, having flown into Canada. Feels very strange to have a virgin unstamped passport, with no evidence of multiple previous visits to both countries, but I shall now make a point of taking my old cancelled one as well.

Incidentally, aren't the new biometric British ones horrid and cheap-looking? The American ones at least manage to conceal the chip and antenna, but ours stand proudly out. At least we haven't yet gone down the US route of featuring inspiring nationalistic quotations on every page, but I fear it's only a matter of time.
