IMO most of these promotions are ripoffs. 50,000 AA miles, for most people, are worth about $500-$600 (the exception is if you use them exclusively for international P/J travel). For most people the tax they will have to pay on the 50,000 miles (which AA will report to the IRS as worth $1250) will be about $500. So the prize is worth maybe $100 if you're lucky.

If you own your own business and want to fly international P or J, it's worthwhile, but only if you win :-)
