Really now... In May I made an online reservation for a 5 night stay in Washington. Two weeks later I tried to make a 2 night reservation in Atlanta, the system said there was no rooms available. I called the Platinum line and I was told I had used my override for my stay in Washington. The system did not inform me that I was using an override otherwise I would have thought twice since the stay was not set in stone for that property. I could have selected from others within Marriott.
Last August I made a reservation for a 3 night stay in NYC. I canceled one week later. Fast forward to Dec. and I was told that I had already used my override even though I canceled my reservation.
Both times I was not aware that the override was being used.
I'm sorry the agents failed to inform you of the platinum availability but I am confused - yes it's true you can only use the platinum availability to reserve 1 room on any given day but how did this limit your ability to switch to another Marriott? If you would have cancelled the first reservation you would have immediately been able to use your platinum availability for those very same nights you had originally reserved
