I think it is absolutely appropriate for flight attendants to emphasize that their primary reason for being on board and, therefore their primary responsibility, is safety. However, calling the call button the "emergency call button" really does demonstrate an indifferent (perhaps even hostile) attitude about customer service. There is no good reason why customer service has to be sacrificed for safety...they not mutually exclusive.
