I not 100% sure but likely you can take the earlier bus.

About 3 years ago I took a round trip to Vancouver BC from Seattle. Both segments were ticketed on the train( they run both buses and trains on this route). I arrived early and asked the bus driver if he would accept the train ticket and he said sure!!
