spanishflea, when I queried this at my last recurrent training, I was told it was due to the fact that items in First may be stowed under the buddy seat in front, whereas there is no buddy seat in Club World. I have noticed in the past, however, that many crew are not overly strict in ensuring that items on the floor in First are actually fully under the buddy seat which may create the illusion that it is acceptable to have items on the floor at your feet (which strictly speaking it isn't). Back to the old 'consistency' chestnut again.
