Angry How Do You Deal With a Seat Recline Complaint?

Hi! I was going from PHL-PHX the other day. Since I had purchased my tickets at the last minute, first class was completely full and I had to sit in coach. I was hoping that I could get in F/C as a standby, but that didn't work as everyone had showed up. So, as the plane started to taxi, I reclined my seat. The guy sitting behind me, one of these 20-year-old muscle heads, tells me that I can't recline during take off. I knew that he was right, but who was he to tell me that?!? I politely appologize and put my seat in its upright position.

Then, when we reach 10,000 feet, I partially recline. However, the guy behind me puts his arm on my arm rest and motions that I put up my seat. When I don't, he starts raming the back of my seat at random intervals. I knew then that this was going to be a long one. I couldn't switch seats either, since there was a 100% load factor.

What would you do if you were in this situation? What could you do in this situation?

Luckily, a woman sitting a few rows in front of me had a non-reclining exit row seat and asked the flight attendant if there were any reclining seats available. I raised my hand and said that she could have mine. I then got up, smirked at the guy sitting behind me, and told the woman that, "There's plenty of leg room here," and jammed the seat in the fully reclined position.
