Have you tried Alitalia from LHR? Perhaps a trip to Bari, Turin or Venice via Rome? They have some great fares and the mileage looks quite promising (though on the website it is calculated for their own program MileMaglia) and you will get 4 ST segments.

In sept I found a trip to Bari for 106GBP - cheapest 4 ST segments in Europe I think.
