If you have any sense of adventure, or speak chinese and have some time to kill, why not book a flight into Shenzhen and take the bus or turbocat to Kowloon or HK Island? Can probably buy it with a couple of days notice as well

The flights during normal conditions really aren't more than $100 each way (if that) and there is a turbo cat launch right near the airport in SZN.
