Thanks for the quick response. I guess I'll contact the hotel and let them know when I'll be arriving. I'm assuming that might qualify as "extra steps"? And is this policy the same for all Sheratons worldwide?

I feel silly for seeing it now...right from the website:

For reservations guaranteed with a form of payment at time of booking, rooms are held until hotel check-out time the day following arrival.
