Normally I try to travel without checked in luggage but as this is the trip back home I'd consider it. However, I'm not sure having breakable glass inside my luggage is a good idea.
I traveled a couple of weeks ago on Virgin Atlantic with two bottles of wine I had been given as presents. Wrapped them in newspaper and put them in my backpack, which I then checked. Figured that if they broke, the only loss (besides whatever dripped onto other luggage) would be the backpack. Arrived just fine and I am looking forward to drinking them.
