UA (and other airlines) are
usually able to provide convenience services, like blankets, food, IFE, etc. But, it's like premium cabins and upgrades: it's nice when you get it, but if you
need it, buy it.
If you are hungry, bring food on board.
If you are thirsty, bring water on board.
If you are tired, bring a pillow on board (I have a wonderful fleece-covered inflatable).
If you are cold, bring a jacket.
If you are sober, well, bring $20 in fives...I've never had a problem.
