The solution (as posted by others) is to call BA in the country of departure, make the reservation and put it on hold. Then call BAEC UK and ask them to retrieve the reservation and have it ticketed in the UK (and charged in GBP). Then the MFU can be applied (likely at the same time I'd assume).
