Cabin crew should be able to lower & raise all shades via master control, but then the individuals seated at the windows should be able to control them if they wish.

This way all shades can be set to up position for takeoff / landing, and crew should be able to shut them all when films start etc. If Mr. or Mrs. Windowseat wants to open them they should be able to do so.

I can recall many a time when the twat sitting at a window fell asleep just after takeoff and no one had the cojones to reach over the sleeping idiot to shut them, so everyone around them suffered
