I don't think I agree with your assessment or analogy. You're saying that somebody's desire to sleep takes precedence over somebody elses desire to look out of the window. The person who needs to sleep could wear eye-shades in the same way as the person playing loud music could wear headphones.
To take the argument to its logical conclusion - why have windows at all ?

Re-read what I wrote. I said somebody's
need to sleep. Not somebody's
desire. Somebody finding it necessary to wear eyeshades because of an open window is not the same as somebody wearing earphones to conceal their music. The correct analogy would be if the complainant was forced to wear earplugs and, personally, I would be extremely annoyed if I was forced to wear earplugs on an aircraft because of somebody's loud music.
