As I read this and ponder what a Friday at Heartland is like, I come to the conclusion that we are better off elsewhere. I am going to suggest a similarly Friday Night Celebratory place in the form of the Oak Door Bar at the Grand Hyatt. It is quite similar to Heartland before 1am basically but with better dressed people and less in the way of obvious working ladies. Way better air-conditioning too.

Heartland, while great for us on a slow night when we can grab the backroom and chat is going to be packed with people from the building and the backroom will be continuously visited by various groups largely disallowing us from getting a chance to hear one another.

I will be finishing up at another event by 10ish and will make my way across by 10:30 or so I expect. For those new to town, tell the taxi driver Grand Hyatt and make your way to the 6th floor there. The restaurant is called the Oak Door and the bar is off to the right inside. Great scene, good drinks, and I think very well suited to our purposes.

sfvoyage,

you are going to have a very easy time finding the Grand Hyatt and Oak Door. I will show you Heartland another time this summer, I promise.

Those of you that have my cell phone, feel free to call anytime, those of you that do not and would like it, PM me.

If any of you live here and have a hard time getting around Roppongi Hills because the maps provided are too hard for you to figure out or the large number of people that may be there tomorrow really are too much for you to handle, by all means drink somewhere else more suited to your taste and we will write it up here so you can share vicariously.

Until tomorrow,

Mike
