On my last trip to KL, I stayed at the Regent (older refurbised 80's style hotel but still 4*) which was better than the last 5 or 6 hotel stays at Hiltons or Sheratons in the USA.

I also stayed at the Mandarin Oriental (4* or 5* can't remember). Excellent stay, but a slightly smaller room.

I think I paid about 70USD/night at the Regent and about 120-140/USD for the MO on either Asiarooms or precision reservations.
