"FAA rules require me to stand in exit row"
As i was placing my travelpro in the overhead bin on my SWA flight yesterday, I warned the FA that the bag was heavy and that she might want to move so as to avoid being hit in the head. She planted her feet and responded that "FAA rules require me to stand here." As it turns out, I was able to stow the bag without knocking her block off.
I am curious as to what FAA rule requires the FAs to stand in the exit row during boarding, as I have not observed this action on any other airlines. Now there is a rule that requires the airline to ascertain whether passengers seated in an exit row can open the door, but that certainly doesn't require the FA to remain there until the row is filled.
