You're likely to get more / better compensation by writing two letters (one for the baggage and one for the late flight). They'll probably pay you something (miles or a travel voucher) for the late baggage. I very seriously doubt you'll get anything for showing up at the airport after the checkin cutoff time. Maybe a few miles if you're lucky.
